Telling Trans History: Community and/or Academia?

  • Avenue Campus Highfield Road Southampton SO17 1BF (map)

Come learn with us this Trans History Week!

Who gets to research and write trans history? Is this an academic project, a community project, or a mix of both? How can trans engagement be baked into our research from the beginning, rather than being tacked on to the end? What kinds of expertise and experience are required? Join SIAH Director Lexi Webster as she leads a conversation between an academic historian, Jonathan Conlin, and Abigail Parkes of Beyond Reflections.

One focus for their discussion will be Conlin's current research project, D'Eon 300, built around the upcoming tercentenary of the spy, diplomat and celebrity, the Chevalière D'Eon.
