Find Out More About Our Sevices

  • Our social groups offer a safe space for you to come and meet people - either online or in person (in selected locations). Great for combatting lonliness, sharing resources and good conversation over a cuppa. Being with community is so important and can help with mental health and wellbeing as well as a springboard along your personal transition ‘journey’.

These groups are also a space where you can seek practical support from our volunteers and peers who have gone through the same issues.

  • Our long term support groups are a volunteer facilitated space to meet with peers to discuss emotions and challenges related to your transition. This may be anything from those who are still questioning their gender, to worries about surgery, coming out to families to handling issues at work. During the first session, the facilitators will help you work on and set goals/objectives for your time in the group.  This means you can work out how things are changing for you and see how you are progressing.

These groups run twice monthly with the same members and volunters for up to a year. After this, it will be up to you whether you with to stay in the same group, have a break, go on the waiting list for a different group, or access a different type of support.

  • Our short-term support groups are emotional support groups that our members can attend on an ad-hoc basis. These groups will run similarly to our long term support groups, with space for you to discuss your transition and mental wellbeing, faciliatated by our compassionate volunteers, but attendees will not be consistant across sessions.

This group is designed for members who only need occasional or one-off support, or that need some support while they are on a waiting list for our other groups or therapy.

Once you have joined as a member you will invited to book onto these groups via email.

  • Our team are always avalible to help our members on a 1 2 1 basis with one off practical queries around forms, letter writing, accessing other support services such as applying for benifits, and much much more. Members can contact our office directly for support or let their group faciliator know they need some 1 2 1 support and they will let the office know to get in touch.

For those who need additional support, for a variety of reasons, either alongside our other services or while they wait to be allocated a group/therapist, we also offer 1 2 1 case workers. Our case workers meet with our members regularly to offer emotional, paracital and mental wellbeing support.

  • We operate two distinct modes of therapy. The first is called ‘person centred counselling', this means your experience is led and directed by you. Your counsellor will accept and value you for exactly the person you are from start to finish, be honest and transparent with you about the issues you are bringing, and offer and empathic understanding. It’s a safe place to explore your feelings, doubts, insecurities, hopes, issues and dreams. You can work with one of our person centred counsellors for up to 6 months to help you explore your issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviour, and worldview.

The second is solution based - rather than a continuous process, this type of therapy focuses on a specific issue and helps you come to a more speedy resolution. You will work with a solution-based therapist over a shorter period of time, focusing on setting goals and working out how to acheive them.

Both therapies are useful to different people and at different times. We help you find which is best for you depending on who you are and the challenges you face.

  • Pathways to Parenthood is a safe space for trans+ people that are going through the process of becoming a parent, whether that be through adoption, surrogacy or conceiving a child naturally.  This group is targeted towards individuals or couples who are actively planning on becoming parents within the next 6-12 months. This support can continue until you are a year post-adoption or post-partum.

The group runs similar to our other emotional support groups, allowing a space for you to navigate the challenges of trans+ parenthood alongside peers and compassionate faciliatators. Occasionally, the group also includes relevent guest speakers.

At this stage. the group is hosted online, but we will be gauging interest for in-person groups at a later stage.

  • Our members also get exclusive access to one of workshops and talks with a wide range of service providers and individuals.

Recently we have hosted a trans masc hair workshop with a local barbour and have plans for a trans femme beauty workshop in partnership with John Lewis at the end of September.

Membership Fees.

Our new membership structure is designed to foster a stronger sense of community by creating a fairer way for all members to both receive and contribute to support. By participating, each member not only gains access to essential services but also helps sustain the collective well-being of our community. This shared responsibility allows us to continue growing and reaching more individuals facing healthcare inequalities and mental health challenges.

Our standard fee is £15 a month.

Students and those who are unwaged/suffering from financial hardship can access discounted rates. To access our reduced fees, members can complete a hardship fund upon application or at any time during their membership if their circumstances change. This is then assessed by the office staff and is usually approved.

Starting October 1st 2024 we will be introducing a nominal monthly fee for all members, rather than only for those accessing specific services. This decision was made with careful consideration and reflects our commitment to improving and expanding the support we provide. The funds from these fees will be reinvested into Beyond Reflections, enabling us to continue offering affordable services to the broader community.

The hardship fund is a ringfenced portion of money that we use to cover the costs of members who are unable to pay, or pay in full, for services received. This may be long or short-term; due to low income, inability to work, a recent unexpected large bill, or a variety of other reasons. If you would like to support our hardship fund, donate below!
